I like to use all flexibility options when possible, it feels like I have more than two arms at the times I have multiple ways available to reach to one certain point, or when I have back up plans.
One of those arms is Windows Admin Center when it comes to headless Hyper-V Server Core management. No doubt, it can be a lifesaver especially when you have no access to a Windows 10 Pro installed machine to manage your server/cluster.
Let’s begin to install this free and usefull tool on your server:
Firstly and obviously, we will need the installation file:
Now, we need to deliver this file to the server, you can use Secure Copy (SCP), a shared folder or a removable drive, I’ll use a thumb drive.
Then we need to access our server, we have two options to do this; RDP and local access. I’ll be using Microsoft Remote Desktop app on MacOS for this. Remote PowerShell session is not one of our options since this is not a silence installation.
The rest is painless, let’s run the installation file:
A window similar to this will welcome us:
I left all the options as is during installation, so you can just click “Next” everytime if you don’t have to configure things for a special reason.
This last step will give us the access URL to WebUI.
And finally, we’re there.
Yes, now we have one more thing to mess with.
